Shipping policy

Effective Date: January 8, 2026

1. Preamble

The transition of a work from our Atelier to your hand is the final step of its realization. It is a transfer of stewardship. Unlike industrial manufacturing, the creation of a Lunburg piece cannot be rushed; the physics of the Rempliage technique and the curing of the leather require a strict adherence to time.

This policy outlines the protocols for the realization, dispatch, and delivery of your commission.

2. The Timeline of Realization

Due to the extreme complexity of our craft, where a single Opus briefcase requires over 530 unique steps and 30 meters of hand-folded edges, it is very rare for us to hold finished inventory.

We ask our Patrons to understand that they are not merely purchasing a product off a shelf; they are securing a place in the production line of a Master Artisan.

2.1 The Atelier Queue (Standard Commission)

Most commissions will enter the Atelier Queue immediately upon confirmation.

  • The Realization Period: Please allow 3 to 5 weeks for the creation of your piece. During this time, the leather is cut, skived, folded, and stitched by hand in our Fes atelier.
  • The Handover: Once your work has passed its final inspection, our Concierge will contact you personally to arrange a shipping date that suits your schedule, ensuring you are available to receive the work.

2.2 Immediate Availability (Rare)

In the rare instance that a work is available in our archive and ready for immediate dispatch:

  • Preparation Time: Please allow 2–3 business days from the confirmation of your commission. This time is required for our artisans to perform final quality checks and package the work for travel.

3. Global Logistics (Delivered Duty Paid)

To ensure that the acquisition of a Lunburg piece is an experience of gracious ease, we have removed the administrative burden of importation from the Custodian.

Shipping is complimentary for all commissions, to every destination we serve.

We operate on a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) basis for all our supported global destinations.

  • The Promise: The amount paid at the time of the commission is final.
  • The Execution: Lunburg B.V. assumes responsibility for all import duties, customs taxes, VAT, and carrier brokerage fees required to clear the work into your country. You will not be asked for additional payment by the courier upon delivery.
  • The Documentation: We handle all customs paperwork. You need only be present to receive the package.

4. Shipping Methods and Transit

We partner with premium global couriers (DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS) to ensure the secure and swift transport of your work once it leaves the Atelier.

Region Estimated Transit Time (Post-dispatch) Service Level
European Union 2 – 4 Business Days Express / Standard
United Kingdom 3 – 5 Business Days Express (DDP)
North America (USA/Canada) 3 – 6 Business Days Express (DDP)
Asia Pacific 4 – 8 Business Days Express (DDP)
Middle East 4 – 7 Business Days Express (DDP)

Note: Remote areas may require additional transit time.

5. The Packaging Ritual

We believe that the unboxing is a ceremonial moment. Your work will arrive in packaging designed to protect the organic nature of the material:

  • Encased in a breathable, soft-touch dust bag.
  • Secured within our signature hard-shell presentation box.
  • Accompanied by the Shared Stewardship (Warranty) credentials and care guide.

We urge you to retain this packaging, as it is the ideal environment for storing the piece when it is not in use.

6. Tracking and Security

Upon the dispatch of your commission, you will receive a confirmation email containing a tracking number. This allows you to maintain visual oversight of the work's journey.

Signature Required:
Due to the value and nature of our works, we require a direct signature upon delivery. We do not authorize "drop-off" without a recipient present, as we cannot guarantee the safety of the parcel once left unattended.

7. Damages and Issues

While we package our works to withstand the rigors of global travel, accidents can occur.

If your parcel arrives with visible damage to the exterior packaging:

  1. Please inspect the work immediately in the presence of the courier if possible.
  2. Photograph the damaged packaging before opening.
  3. If the work itself is damaged, contact our concierge immediately at concierge@lunburg.com.

We will arrange for the immediate collection and replacement of the work at our expense.
